The fact that he looks up at her when she says his name just sort of confirms it. He's a lemur, and she helps him out of the fridge with the slab-o-cow, "Mein Gott, my friend, Phoenix and I became primates, why on Earth are you a lemur?" She has no idea if he can understand her or not, but greatly suspects the latter.
